SUSTAINABILITY

PROUDLY AUSTRALIAN
MADE AND OWNED

Bondi Sands continues to provide a confident glow to our customers all year round, bringing the iconic Australian summer to you every day. Inspired by Australia’s most iconic beach, we recognise our environmental responsibility.

To kickstart our mission in minimising our wider environmental impact, we are already making positive changes across our packaging and products.

These actions and focuses are part of a bigger plan where we continue to put sustainability at the forefront of everything we do, ensuring we do our part to protect our planet and serve you, our community.

OUR PROMISE

Sustainability is a key value of our brand and community, and through our new Hub we aim to be transparent about all that we do at Bondi sands -showcasing our 'always on' attitude towards positive environmental impacts, with sustainable choices at the forefront of everything we do.

Our promise to our global community and our pledge as a brand is to have fully recyclable packaging across all of our products by 2025.

BY 2025 100% OF OUR PACKAGING WILL BE FULLY RECYCLABLE AND WILL CONTAIN RECYCLED MATERIALS.

Product Recyclability has been a huge focus for us, particularly with our latest launch, Pure. Highlighted as a gold standard in product packaging, Pure is 100% recyclable and made from recycled materials, paving the way for our remaining products to follow. We continue to actively source innovative technologies across the globe that push the boundaries on sustainable and recyclable product packaging, where customers know they are making the right choices for their planet whilst not having to compromise on the effectiveness of their Bondi Sands products.

"As Bondi Sands grows, so does our responsibility to our environment. From a public perspective, sustainability may feel like a new direction for our brand, yet this is something that's always been a priority for us. Whether that be through our Vegan & Cruelty Free formulations, Reef Friendly Suncare or our move away from using virgin plastics in product packaging. Sustainability has, and continues to be a major driver for the future of our brand." - Blair James, Bondi Sands CEO

OUR PART

Through World Earth Month, we are highlighting our sustainable efforts for greater transparency for our community, showcasing our positive environmental impact.

Aligning with our own brand values of simplicity, accessibility and community, and in line with our own sustainable initiatives, we are proud to announce a partnership with Take 3 for the Sea. Through education that inspires participation, Take 3 for the Sea promote simple actions: take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway or anywhere and you have made a difference.

As a brand with a global community, we wish to make sustainability inclusive, simplistic and authentic and are proud to partner with a non-for-profit organisation to further support their efforts in educating our communities on the impact of plastic pollution.

REEF FRIENDLY*

We believe it’s important to choose the right sunscreen protection so that you can step into the sun with confidence. Bondi Sands Suncare is formulated

to be Reef Friendly.

What does “Reef Friendly” mean?
Hawaii currently regulates two chemical ingredients found in sunscreens which are believed to cause coral bleaching—oxybenzone and octinoxate - the absence of which is what we call “Reef Friendly”. It’s important to know that the term “Reef Friendly” is not defined or regulated by authorities, so when you see these words on Bondi Sands sunscreens, it simply means that our entire Suncare range has been formulated in compliance with Hawaii’s regulations and is free of oxybenzone and octinoxate. We will continue to evolve our product formulations based on guidance from both local and international authorities.

PETA CERTIFIED

We have officially formalised our stance on animal cruelty as an accredited PETA approved brand. Although animal testing has never been condoned at Bondi Sands, we now share commitment to keeping our furry friends out of labs, by verifying that we (nor our suppliers) conduct, commission, or pay for any testing on animals for ingredients, formulations or finished products.

Additionally, all of our products are vegan friendly, with the exception of our Suncare products, which contain naturally derived beeswax. We are working closely with our suppliers to update these formulations so that our entire product range will meet vegan compliance.

REDUCING OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

We understand that sustainability goes further than just our packaging and product materials. Bondi Sands is excited to be a part of a world-first, sustainable packaging project initiated by our tube manufacturer, Impact International. The plantation is home to 20,000 tree forest in NSW, where a portion of these trees have been purchased by Bondi Sands to offset our carbon emissions.

This area is also home to endangered and vulnerable animal species and native vegetation that will be preserved or rehabilitated through this project.

CHARITY INITIATIVES

In light of the 2020 Australian bushfires that devastated our home, we launched the Reuse to Rebuild campaign where we created special reusable Frank Green ceramic cups and bottles in an effort to assist those affected by the bushfires.

Our Reuse to Rebuild campaign raises money for the months and years it will take for these victims to recover, long after the fires have been put out. Our special reusable FrankGreen ceramic cup and bottle are available on our website, with 100% of proceeds donated to the Red Cross to support community recovery across Australia.
